FlashCards
The Ladybird Key Words Reading Scheme was still being
widely used in the late 70's and these cards were an update of the earlier
"Picture-Word Matching Schemes". The
idea was to use the cards in conjunction with the Keywords books, where
you could match cards with words in the book, or to make new sentences,
to form matching pairs (Mr/Mrs, before/after) or even to play a simple
word form of "lotto". The cards measured 12.5 * 5cms and were
printed using the font from the book on one side (see "but",
right) , plus "school script" (a serif font) on the other side
(see "your/old").

This set of cards dates from 1977 - note the later logo
on the box. The pack contains 108 word cards, plus some spare blanks for
the teacher to make up their own cards. There were at least two sets issued,
the second set (shown here) was for use with books 5a, 5b, 6a & 6b
of the Keywords scheme.
