In the Summer of 1999 an exhibition titled EASY ON THE EYE was held at the Blackpool Art Gallery. It featured two rooms of framed album sleeves from the collections of Vince Kelly and myself (I design reissue CD packaging for a number of labels), mostly easy listening titles from the fifties and sixties. I've been interested in album art since I began buying records back in the seventies. As a designer I even got to do a few sleeves in the late seventies and early eighties, before the CD format took over. This site is designed to present a wide variety of album covers, grouped in categories and where possible annotated with designers names etc. Inevitably images of women been used on a huge number of covers and the site will contain a fair number, but I'm trying to cover other areas as well.
The covers have come from my own modest collection but it is hoped other collectors may wish to get involved. Sleeves shown on the pages can be viewed at approx. twice size by clicking on the images. I've tried to maximise the quality while at the same time keeping download times reasonable for those (like myself!) with slower connections. This site will be added to as spare time permits so do keep checking back. I also plan to list new and old books devoted to the subject and provide links to any other sites.
In a couple of categories we also have CD's available to buy. All covers are available off line as high resolution images should anyone want to make use of them in magazine articles etc.
